Arrival and checkout

What time are check-in and checkout?

Check-in is from 16:00 on your arrival date. Checkout is by 10:00 on your departure date, Chamonix local time.

How do I check out?

Please strip your bed before leaving and vacate your room by 10:00. The lodge uses code locks, so there are no keys to return: once you have checked your belongings, you can simply leave.

How does self check-in work?

Access uses code locks. We send your room instructions by text and email. For bookings made before 16:00, we also leave an envelope on the front door as a backup, because there are no bar staff on site to help. Provide a working email address and phone number, and check your messages before travelling.

Can I arrive late?

Self check-in allows arrival after the normal 16:00 check-in time. Make sure you have received your access instructions before arriving late. If anything is missing, contact stay@chamonixlodge.com or message through your booking platform.

Can I leave luggage before check-in or after checkout?

Chamonix Lodge offers free luggage storage. Contact the team for access instructions and to discuss longer storage while you are away trekking. Keeping luggage does not extend the 10:00 room checkout time.

The sauna and shared spaces

Does Chamonix Lodge have a sauna?

Yes. Our sauna is free for staying guests and does not need to be booked. It is available until 22:00.

How do I use the sauna?

Press the sauna's on button, allow about 20 minutes for it to heat, then use it. Please finish by 22:00 and follow the instructions displayed at the sauna.

Is Chamonix Lodge a sociable place to stay?

Yes. The shared kitchen, living areas and garden give travellers places to cook, relax and swap stories after a day in the mountains. It is a welcoming base for solo travellers and friends who enjoy meeting other guests.

Is there a guest kitchen?

Yes. Chamonix Lodge has a fully equipped shared guest kitchen for preparing meals. Please clean up after cooking and leave the space ready for other guests.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. A simple complimentary breakfast is provided to all staying guests. Follow the breakfast information supplied for your stay.

Does Chamonix Lodge have a bar or restaurant?

Chamonix Lodge has a guest kitchen, with no bar or restaurant on site. We encourage guests to visit the bar at our sister property, Vert Lodge, to meet locals and other travellers. Chamonix Lodge guests receive 10% off at the Vert Lodge bar. Ask our team how to claim the discount.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available. Connection details are provided to staying guests.

Is there a garden?

Yes. Guests can enjoy the garden and decking, with mountain views and spaces to relax. Please respect other guests and neighbours, particularly in the evening.

Choosing a room

What accommodation can I book?

Choose from private rooms and shared dormitory beds, subject to availability. Check the live booking system for the exact room type, bed arrangement, capacity and price for your dates.

Do all rooms have private bathrooms?

No. We offer both en-suite private rooms and rooms with shared bathrooms. Dormitory beds use shared bathrooms. Check the bathroom arrangements in the room description before booking.

What is the twin room with shared bathroom like?

This private room has bunk beds and access to a shared bathroom and toilet. A twin booking does not necessarily mean two separate floor-level beds: check the description of the room you select.

What should I know about the bunk house rooms?

The bedroom has no window and features a raised double bed that must be climbed up to. These rooms share a kitchen, bathroom and living area. Read the room description carefully before booking, especially if climbing to the bed would be difficult.

Are bed linen and towels provided?

Linen and towels are provided. A mandatory linen charge of €5 applies per private room or per dormitory bed, per stay. Use of the lodge's linen is compulsory.

Can you add an extra bed?

No. There is no capacity for extra beds. Please book accommodation with enough places for everyone in your party.

Can guests aged 16 or 17 stay without an adult?

Yes, with consent from a parent or guardian. Contact the lodge before booking to arrange the required permission.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not allowed at Chamonix Lodge.

Is the accommodation suitable for my access needs?

Contact stay@chamonixlodge.com before booking to discuss bedroom access, bathrooms, steps and bed arrangements. Some rooms have bunks or raised beds, so please check suitability for your needs in advance.

Can I change or cancel a booking?

Your chosen rate determines the conditions. Refundable bookings can be changed or cancelled free of charge more than three days before arrival. Non-refundable bookings do not receive a cash refund; the terms allow date changes or a future-booking credit when the required notice is given. Check your confirmation for the conditions and contact the lodge promptly.

Is tourist tax charged separately?

Tourist tax is added to eligible room nights at €1 per person per night, subject to applicable exemptions. Children under 18 are exempt. A guest card gives access to eligible free local train travel; it does not include free buses.
